Terms
Terms of Service
Last updated: 1 September 2026
Working draft. This is published so a policy is in place from day one; a final version reviewed by counsel will replace it. The substance below reflects how Newsmonger actually behaves today.
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of Newsmonger (the “Service”). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
1. The service
Newsmonger tracks subjects you choose and, on a schedule, uses an AI with live web search to surface what is genuinely new, with links to the sources. It is an aggregation and summarisation tool — it points you to reporting by others; it is not itself a news publisher.
2. Your account
You must be old enough to form a binding contract in your jurisdiction (and at least 13). You are responsible for the activity under your account and for keeping your sign-in secure. Provide accurate information and keep it current. You may close your account at any time.
3. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- use the Service to seek out material that is illegal to seek (the app blocks a narrow set of such topics automatically);
- abuse, overload, probe or interfere with the Service or attempt to bypass its limits or access controls;
- use the Service to break the law or infringe others’ rights; or
- resell or redistribute the Service’s output as if it were your own reporting.
4. Plans and billing
The Service offers tiered plans with different limits (see Pricing). Where paid plans are offered, fees are billed in advance and are non-refundable except where required by law. We may change prices or plan limits on reasonable notice; changes do not apply retroactively to a period you have already paid for.
5. Content and accuracy
Summaries are generated by an AI from third-party web pages and may be incomplete, out of date, or wrong. Always check the linked sources before relying on anything. Newsmonger does not endorse and is not responsible for the content of the sites it links to. The stories and links belong to their respective publishers; your own topics and settings belong to you.
6. Intellectual property
The Service, its software and its branding are ours or our licensors’. These Terms grant you a limited, personal, non-transferable right to use the Service; they transfer no ownership.
7. Disclaimers
The Service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that any summary is accurate or complete.
8. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Newsmonger will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss arising from your reliance on any summary or link. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
9. Termination
You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate access if you breach these Terms or to protect the Service or its users. On termination, your right to use the Service ends; the deletion of your data follows the Privacy Policy.
10. Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms as the product changes; the “last updated” date above will move, and continued use after a change means you accept the updated Terms.
11. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which the Service is operated, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. (The specific jurisdiction will be set in the counsel-reviewed version.)
